Delete shortcut in Excel

In our daily work with Excel, we frequently perform various operations related to deletion. For example, there are various delete operations on rows, columns, cells, text in cells, comments, sheets, etc. By learning the shortcut keys to perform these delete operations and making the operations a habit, you can achieve high productivity in your work.

Select the cell whose characters you want to delete.

Press Backspace or Delete to finish deleting the characters of the selected cell. Pressing Backspace puts the active cell that is blank into edit mode. If Delete is pressed, the active cell will not be in edit mode.

Delete characters to the left of the cursor

Select the cell from which you want to remove characters.

Select text in a cell

Press F2 to make the characters in the selected cell editable.

Delete a string

Pressing Backspace allowed me to delete characters.

Delete characters to the right of the cursor

Select the cell from which you want to remove characters.

Pressing the F2 makes the characters in the selected cell editable. Use the (Left Arrow key) to position the cursor where you want to delete characters.

Delete characters in a cell to the end of the line

Select a cell

Select the cells from which you want to delete characters.

Select text in a cell

Pressing the F2 makes the characters in the selected cell editable. Use the (Left Arrow key) to position the cursor at the starting point where you want to delete the characters.

Delete strings to the end of the line

Pressing Ctrl + Delete deleted the characters from the cursor position to the end of the line.
